Joe Grech the founder of Square Deal has a substantial shareholding in the real estate of La Dolce Vita/Lore & Fitch and Cafe Cuba restaurants found in St Julians. These restaurants are leased out to third parties who fully run and manage the restaurant themselves.

La Dolce Vita

La Dolce Vita restaurant opened in 1981.  La Dolce Vita, which means “the good Life” in Italian is a 1960 comedy-drama film written and directed by the critically acclaimed director Federico Fellini.  The restaurant, which was positioned as an upscale Italian eatery was an instant hit just like the movie.  Originally, the restaurant was family run with the help of top chef Sabatini, however over time it became evident that this industry needed full time attention and could not be run together with the other Grech businesses.  The decision was made in 1985 to lease the premises out under the brand name that we created under strict rules and standards to ensure that the business would carry on the Grech values of quality that it adopted in its other businesses.

Lore & Fitch

It all started on the legendary Mediterranean island of Sicily. Hailing from a family of goldsmiths, Riccardo Lorefice was a young child when he started to show a passion for his mum’s talent in the kitchen. By the time he was in his teens, he was handling almost every aspect of the family restaurant. Even then, he dreamed of creating an experience that was all his doing.
